Caregiver Support Groups
Peer support in a non-judgmental atmosphere is a source of support for families caring for a frail loved one or someone with Alzheimer’s.  Our group leaders are professionally trained to lead groups which offer emotional support and practical advice for caring for a loved one.  Free on-site care is provided during the meetings.

In Ronkonkoma:
First Tuesday of each month, 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Last Friday of each month, 10:00 a.m.—11:30 a.m.

In Port Jefferson:
First Wednesday of each month, 6:30 pm. - 8:00 p.m.

Please call to confirm dates and attendance.

One-On-One Support
Our caregiver support group leader is also available for one-on-one support. If you are looking for specific advice or need someone to talk to one-on-one, call Eleanor Reub at (631) 585-2020 to set up a time to meet or to have a telephone consultation.

Educational Events for Professionals and Caregivers
Our mission extends to providing education to the professional elder care network, caregivers and the community at large on issues related to aging, Alzheimer’s disease and caregiving.   For professionals, we often can provide continuing education units.  For caregivers, having information will support good decision making while furnishing the tools to cope with the challenges of caregiving.

Topics may include: Elder Law and Estate Planning; Accessing Community Resources; Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease; Managing Difficult Behaviors and Communication; Activities to Do at Home; Medicare and Medicaid; Safety in the Home.

Most of our events are free and open to the public.  Some may require a nominal contribution.  Please call (631) 585-2020, ext. 260, for more information about upcoming educational events in your community.

Informational Packets
Everyone attending one of our educational events will receive an informational packet.  Aging, caregiving, Alzheimer’s and dementia are just some of the topics covered in the packet.  Attendees will also receive useful phone numbers to connect  them to a variety of services on Long Island.  If you are unable to attend an educational event but would like a packet, please call us at (631) 585-2020, ext. 260.
