Peer support in a non-judgmental atmosphere is a source of support for families caring for a frail loved one or someone with Alzheimer’s. Educational Events for Professionals
and Caregivers
Our mission extends to providing education to the professional elder care network, caregivers and the community at large on issues related to aging, Alzheimer’s disease and caregiving. For professionals, we often can provide continuing education units. For caregivers, having information will support good decision making while furnishing the tools to cope with the challenges of caregiving.
Topics may include: Elder Law and Estate Planning; Accessing Community Resources; Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease; Managing Difficult Behaviors and Communication; Activities to Do at Home; Medicare and Medicaid; Safety in the Home.
Most of our events are free and open to the public. Some may require a nominal contribution. Please call (631) 585-2020, ext. 260, for more information about upcoming educational events in your community.
Informational Packets
Everyone attending one of our educational events will receive an informational packet. Aging, caregiving, Alzheimer’s and dementia are just some of the topics covered in the packet. Attendees will also receive useful phone numbers to connect them to a variety of services on Long Island. If you are unable to attend an educational event but would like a packet, please call us at (631) 585-2020, ext. 260.
